Tinynormous w/ Maggie Black, Betty & The Rubble, Selvedge

Friday August 28 @ 9:00 pm - 12:00 am
Tinynormous w/ Maggie Black & special guests: Genre bending, mind winding, groovy instrumentals “…they combine jazz fusion complexity with melodic immediacy, keeping the listener attached to their sound from start to finish….an eclectic, wide range of influences from Joe Satriani and Jimi Hendrix to Jeff Buckley.” – lastdaydeaf.com “an atmospheric instrumental journey…. Tinynormous… bypasses the mind and goes straight for our souls. With a blend of rich instrumentals and intricately placed beats.” – glassefactory.com “Harmony, guitars, and sensitivity” perfectly encapsulate … warm and inviting” – rocktails.tv (translated from spanish)
Maggie Black is a piano based singer songwriter from Chicago, whose eclectic style draws from influences such as Suzanne Vega, Jeff Buckley, Fiona Apple, Leonard Cohen, and Amy Winehouse. She is currently recording her first album on an 8 track with the help of the musical maverick Dev Jana. If you ask her about this project she might retreat into the nearest snail’s shell and raise a sign that reads “please come back when I’m done,” but she promises it’ll be done soon.
Betty & the Rubble: Betty and Rubble formed in early 2022 in the space between Maple Grove and Rochester, MN.  The band consists of primary singer/songwriter Janel Hurtado on vocals, piano and guitar, James Rechs on guitars and backing vocals, Tom Lyseng on drums, and Ryland Nelsen on bass.  They released EPs in June 2023 and February 2025.  B n’ R bring an optimistic and up beat energy to their music while capturing the tension between vulnerability and defiance.
Selvedge: Selvedge is the finished edge of something raw — where folk, Americana, rock, country, and blues meet without pretense. Guitar, bass, and voices. No filler. Every thread intentional. Born out of front-porch sessions and dive bar sets in Minneapolis, we play the kind of music that sounds better on a warm night with the windows down.
