Shrimp Olympics Tuesday Residency w. All Golden & Pure Shifter

Tuesday July 9 @ 9:00 pm - 11:30 pm

Shrimp Olympics began as the home recording project of Austin Lombardo, and has since expanded into a 5 piece band, featuring Lombardo (guitar, vocals), Teagan DeVoe (violin, vocals), Mat Roberts (keyboard, percussion), Alex Graves (bass), and Stone

Thompson (drums).

The early Shrimps tapes followed in the tradition of home taping popsters such as R Stevie Moore, Daniel Johnston and Ween.

Shrimp Olympics music often makes quick jumps between genres including psychedelic pop, country rock, jazz, noise experiments, progressive rock, baroque pop, etc.

For fans of: LCD Soundsystem, St. Vincent, and Death Grips
pure SHIFTER’s core songwriter, career nobody John Genz, has been playing and home recording for years, quietly reshaping his set from Mountain Goats-influenced guitar demos into wide-screen electro-punk tooth-rattlers.
pS’s music filters snarkily intellectual indie/punk ethos through a modern electronic/dance prism. The resulting songs range from acerbic disco think-pieces, oblique bangers, and earnestly reflective psych-pop grooves.
With great effort, pURe sHIFTER have accepted the late-capitalist imperative to understand all interpersonal relationships as forms of marketing. Despite this, cultural production continues to find ways of challenging accepted power dynamics, opening up unmarshalled spaces where sound, art, and movement can still produce real feeling and connection.
Pure Shifter is the soundtrack to this tension.
