Sam & J w. Squinny, The Daily Norm

Sunday, February 8, 2026 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Sam & J:
Sam & J began their act impromptu at a hair salon, performing Sam’s songs together for a small audience. The set proved to be fun. For the past few years, Sam & J have expanded their musical partnership, recording some of their favorite numbers and performing original music for whoever will have them. Sam & J have borrowed ideas from many people and disciplines–from the writings of Eugene Ionesco and Richard Brautigan, to the music of John Denver and Keith Jarrett.
Squinny:
Squinny is a Minneapolis psych glam four-piece. Synth and riff-heavy, the group’s high-energy performances are home to both dancing and head-banging. Their combination of crushing rhythms and giant melodies is reminiscent of T. Rex a la Daft Punk or Justice.
The Daily Norm:
The Daily Norm is the solo project of Kae Layne, a guitarist from Connecticut, currently residing in Minneapolis. His fingerstyle technique is described as delicate, atmospheric, and thought-provoking. Inspired by the likes of Lindsay Buckingham, Paul McCartney and Bruce Cockburn, he takes what he learns and adds it to his style in a way that you can immediately tell it’s The Daily Norm. His debut Album, “Sometime, Elsewhere” released January 2025, has caught the attention of Minnesota Delta Blues legend, Charlie Parr, leading Parr to shout out the album in his newsletter, saying “If I had this on vinyl it would be worn out by now!”
Kae’s hope is that through his music and performances, he can make a connection with others.
