Joe Carey w. Emma Josephine, Jeff Ray

Sunday December 14 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Joe Carey:

St. Paul-based singer-songwriter Joe Carey has been making noise around the greater Twin Cities for nearly three decades. He blends elements of rock, Americana, classic country, and Irish folk and is often characterized by a raw heartfelt approach that The Current Blog says “rings with energy and swagger of a band of sailors in a crowded Irish pub”. As the late Tom Hallett put it about Carey, “It’s truly refreshing to hear somebody really be who they are, say what they want, and play what they want”.

Jeff Ray:

Jeff Ray is a Minnesota-based acoustic blues and American-primitive fingerstyle guitarist who weaves blues, folk, and world-music influences through cryptic alternate tunings. He has studied with slide-guitar virtuoso Debashish Bhattacharya and is a winner of the Minnesota Blues Society’s Road to Memphis competition. Ray has shared stages with Chris Smither, Justin Townes Earle, Pat Donohue and more. Featured on NPR’s Radio Heartland and major festivals, Jeff’s high-energy, improvisational performances showcase unparalleled slide-guitar mastery.

Emma Josephine:

Emma Josephine’s voice echoes generations of singer/songwriters with her resonant stories and acoustic guitar. Her lyrics are brought to life with the melodies of an old soul and the nostalgia of growing up in Minnesota. Emma debuted as a festival musician at the 32nd Annual Rock Bend Folk Festival where she was described by the co-coordinator, Ron Arsenault, as “an engaging, talented, intelligent emerging songwriter.” She has worked with artists including Dave Simonett, The Cactus Blossoms, and Sarah Morris.
