Excessive began as a guitar and electronics looping project by Eric Carranza.  With small recording devices and synthesizers and drum machines, he began capturing musical moments in various locations that would become the foundation of the 2019 debut album “Flared Opinions”.  Throughout the time of making the recordings Excessive also took on a monthly performing residency in Saint Paul, MN with many guest musicians of an experimental nature. These improvised performances further developed the sound that would become Excessive, with heavy contributions from bandmates Matty Harris and Braden Dickie.

In 2020 the album, Flared Opinions, was nominated for an Independent Music Award
