SUMMARY:Wilkinson James w. Erik Brandt
DESCRIPTION:Wilkinson James was born in 2008 when Liz Wilkinson and AJ Scheiber met up and merged\ntheir singing and songwriting into a musical partnership that one fan described as “the bastard\noffspring of June Carter Cash and Townes Van Zandt.” Somewhere along the line that duo\nbecame a full band\, adding pedal steel\, fiddle\, and saxophone to Liz and AJ’s resonant\nharmonies and classic-yet-fresh original tunes. Like their well-received albums Wilkinson James\nand Abandon\, their live shows are enlivened by their love of folk and blues\, while adding dashes\nof jazz\, torch\, and swing for fun and flavor. \n  \nErik Brandt has been the ringleader of the award-winning eclectic Twin Cities-based Urban\nHillbilly Quartet since 1995. By night\, he plays music. By day\, he teaches English at Harding High\nSchool in St. Paul. He’s played in venues all over the USA\, Canada\, Australia\, and on various\nstreet corners throughout Europe. On stage\, Erik performs mainly original material drawn from\nthe Americana vein. Most of his original tunes can be found on the nine albums he’s recorded \nwith the UHQ and his four solo albums\, including his latest\, Folksinger. As a multi-\ninstrumentalist\, Erik switches between acoustic guitar\, piano and accordion during \nperformances.

SUMMARY:Miners And Gardeners w. Lakeside Cemetery
DESCRIPTION:Miners and Gardeners is the musical project of Dan Moriarty. The songs blend raw vocals alongside expansive arrangements\, introspective lyrics and quiet waves of sound that occasionally roar and bite. Based in Minneapolis\, MN.\n\nInspired where indie and alternative rock meets singer-songwriters – think REM\, Death Cab for Cutie\, Band of Horses\, and The National\, as well as lesser known classic acts like the Go-Betweens. \n“Driving from jangly moroseness into a rousing synth-touched rock catharsis” – Obscure Sound \n“soothing vocals stand out amidst the gentle instrumentation\, which gradually builds up to a beautiful crescendo with added layers of sound” – Reviler \n\n\nLakewood Cemetery is an indie folk duo comprised of Minneapolis locals Dan Krzykowski and Katrina Schleisman. Their original songs span from country to bluegrass to folk to rock. Katrina’s thoughtful\, poetic lyrics are matched by Dan’s intricate guitar work and arrangement. Their live performances feature both\, along with the intricate vocal harmony that initially brought them together. Chosen as semi-finalists for the Star Tribune’s “Are You Local?” 2016 best new band contest.
